    Q. What types of returns does the training cover?
    A. The training covers 1040, Schedule C and small business tax returns (1120, 1120-S, 1065)
     
    Q. When can I start the course?
    A. This course is open enrollment. You can start the course as soon as you receive your log in information and are ready. Your user log in will be issued to you via e-mail within 48 hours of purchase.
     
    Q. What does interactive mean?
    A. Interactive courses include instructor support by email and automatic instructional feedback. All assignments and exams are graded instantly.
     
    Q. What does online mean and how will I know how I am doing?
    A. Online means via the Internet. With the online courses, students receive instant feedback on the accuracy of each homework assignment, quiz, and exam. Students must successfully pass each chapter (70% is passing) before they can move on to the next one. When students have a question or comment, they have a direct link to send an e-mail to our instructor support. Instructors will respond within two business days – maximum.
     
    Q. How much time do I have to complete a tax course? Is there a time frame that I need to finish each chapter or assignment?
    A. All of our online tax courses are completely at your own pace. The course will take approximately 90 hours to complete, and you have up to 6 months from date of registration.
     
    Q. How long will it take to complete a tax course?
    A. This program includes 30 chapters. We recommend 2-3 chapters per week, you should expect to need 10 - 15 weeks to complete it.
     
    Q. How much time should I allow for each online lesson?
    A. The time spent on each chapter will vary however; you should expect to spend 5-6 hours per chapter to read the chapter and the reading assignment, to complete lesson problems, and to complete homework assignments.
     
    Q. What do I need to have in order to take an online course, and what are the system requirements?
    A. In order to take our online courses, you must have access to a computer and the Internet (high speed internet access is recommended). You can access the course contents from any web-enabled computer. You do not have to use the same computer to log-in to the course every time. Adobe Reader is required to view the online material from our tax school.
     
    Q. Who will be my instructor?
    A. Each student has access to instructors for one-on-one interaction. Instructors are available (via email or phone by appointment) to answer any course questions you may have and to provide feedback on your performance. All of our instructors are successful working professionals in the topics they teach.
     
    Q. What is the actual response time to have questions answered by the instructor with the courses?
    A. Our instructors respond to students on a first-come first-served basis and make every effort to respond within 24 hours. Two business days is the maximum response time.
     
    Q. I just registered and got my user login. I am excited to get started but was wondering if you recommend I wait for my book?
    A. You can wait if you want to; however, everything you need is available online. The book is a great tool to have while taking the course so you don’t have to print everything out. It is also a great reference after you finish the course. Feel free to start your course now and just download anything you need until your book comes. It should only be a few days.
     
    Q. How can I be assured that no one will have access to my course information online?
    A. Each Student is issued a unique username and password that is required to enter the secure area of the website where their student’s data is entered and stored.
     
    Q. Will I be able to complete an online assignment more than once?
    A. You will be allowed 2 attempts for chapter quizzes/tests and 3 attempts for final exams. You must successfully complete each section (70% is passing) before you are able to move on to the next one.
     
    Q. What happens when I complete the course?
    A. Upon successful completion of the course, you will be awarded a certificate of course completion. You must obtain a final passing grade of 70% or greater to be awarded a certificate.

    A. Once you complete your course, please click on the link within your course to request a certificate. Your certificate request will be processed and you will receive the certificate within 2-3 weeks via email.
     
    Q. I heard the IRS is now regulating tax return preparers. What does that mean for people new to the industry and those already in the industry?
    A. New regulations require all paid tax return preparers to obtain a Preparer Tax Identification Number (PTIN). The cost to obtain your PTIN is $64.25. Learn more about PTIN here.

    Q. Which tax forms and states are covered?
    A. Intuit Tax Online covers 1040 for federal and all states, as well as 1041, 1065, 1120 and 1120S for federal and all states.
     
    Q. Can I file both electronic and paper returns in Intuit Tax Online?
    A. Yes. Both e-File and paper filing are available. In order to e-File a return, you must have an EFIN number.
     
    Q. Is my personal information and clients' data safe?
    A. Intuit Tax Online uses the same technology used by online banks and brokerages to transmit your private data over the Internet. Additionally, electronic filing services are provided through the same system used to submit millions of professional and consumer filed tax returns every year.     Q. What is Intuit's privacy policy?

    Q. Where will my data be backed up with Intuit Tax Online?
    A. Yes. The data will be stored on Intuit servers, so you can access it at anytime from anywhere. It's stored on firewall protected, redundant servers so your data is safe from hardware and software failures, hackers and viruses.
     
    Q. How do I get my clients' data if I want to have a personal copy?
    A. You can save PDF copies of the tax return to your computer
     
    Q. Does using Intuit Tax Online necessitate consent under Code Section 7216?
    A. A. You may use Intuit's tax preparation products and services to assist you with the preparation and electronic filing of tax returns. "Tax return information" is information that taxpayers provide in order to prepare a tax return using an Intuit tax product. The use and disclosure of tax return information is governed by Section 7216 of the Internal Revenue Code and many state codes and regulations. Intuit discloses or uses tax return information only in accordance with applicable laws, to prepare, assist in preparing, or obtain or provide services in connection with preparing tax returns. The Income Tax School Training - Course Term:
The term for this 90 hour course is 6 months from date of registration. Customers who do not finish the course within the allotted time frame may pay a $65 reinstatement fee to continue on for an additional term.

The Income Tax School Training - Course Objectives:
Customers will receive training in the subjects outlined in the promotional literature. The course is designed to enable the customer to learn to prepare basic individual and small business income tax returns and start a tax preparation business. However, completion of the course does not guarantee success as a tax preparer or a tax business owner.

Cancellation Policy:

  • If cancellation occurs before completion of or access to less than 50% of the course, the customer will receive a prorated refund of monthly charges incurred to date.
